My daughter came home from my grandmother’s house hungry and in a bad mood, and what I later found out horrified me.

A week ago, I picked up my daughter from her grandmother’s place where she had been visiting. Normally, Olena always returns from her grandmother’s with joy and excitement, telling stories of what they did and the pies they baked.

However, this time, Olena seemed upset. At first, I thought she might have fallen or something had happened to her, but there were no visible injuries. I tried asking her about it, but she was crying and couldn’t calm down.

I couldn’t understand what had happened that evening. When we got home, Olena fell asleep right away. By morning, she had calmed down and told me that her grandmother had called her a thief and scolded her severely. Olena insisted that she had never taken anything from her grandmother without permission. I believed my child because Olena wouldn’t even harm a fly, let alone steal.

I immediately called my mother and said, “Well, are you satisfied? You’ve raised a juvenile delinquent on your own! What happened? Can you explain properly?” My mother responded, “Why would this little thief be ashamed to tell the truth? Stop defending her, there’s no excuse for her!” A few days later, my mother called back and told me that she had found her money in a different purse.

She had simply forgotten which purse she used when going to the bank. I told her that she should apologize to her granddaughter, as the child wasn’t at fault and had needlessly gone through such stress. However, my mother didn’t rush to apologize. I never expected this from her, and our relationship suddenly turned cold.
